2. Burleigh Heads
Burleigh Heads is the venue for many international surfboard riding tournaments. Burleigh beach is one of the best spots in Australia for surfing. The Burleigh headland offers magical views north to Surfers Paradise, and is a great place for family days at the beach.
On the northern section of the beach at border town Coolangatta lies Coolangatta beach, continuing to its southern section where it becomes Greenmount. The beach is often protected, with cafes and shops nearby.
Currumbin offers beautiful ocean and estuary beaches and rock pools. It is also a haven for surfing and water sports. Currumbin was named Australia's cleanest beach in 2013. It is considered one of the gems of the Gold Coast,
5. Main Beach
Enjoy one of the Gold Coast's best walks from Surfers Paradise north to cosmopolitan Main Beach. Grab a drink at the historic Main Beach bathing pavilion and continue on to The Spit and the sand pumping jetty.
6. Mermaid Beach
An open beach named after the creek that flows into the ocean nearby. Mermaid is usually a bit quieter than its northern neighbours, and is home to local beachfront millionaires' row, Hedges Avenue.
7. Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise beach extends for almost three kilometres, perfect for people watching, with cafes and shops just a short walk away. Beachfront markets operate on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.
